Studying Mathematics means that I have a different background to those usually employed by engineering consultants; however MWH offer a wide variety of projects and encourage you to work in a range of different specializations.

Through MWH’s flexibility and support I worked part – time during my final year at University. There is a strong team culture throughout MWH, from a division level through to a global level; there are strong connections to international offices so the prospect of travel is available.

There are plenty of social events, activities and sporting teams organized that make working at MWH a lot of fun!

After graduating with a dual degree in Law and Environmental Science it was always an aspiration of mine to build a long and successful career in environmental consulting.

As luck would have it I knew someone else who worked for MWH and after a chat and a few emails with him I knew that MWH was the firm for me.

As a graduate Project Manager (Environment & Legal) I have already been presented with the opportunity to work on projects that I could have only dreamt of working on in my first year.

Further the team culture at MWH is extremely evident throughout the company with strong connections between all of the Australian and International offices, so there is the real opportunity to work on international projects.

Also with the support of MWH it is with a great satisfaction that I will be admitted as a solicitor into the legal profession of QLD early this year.

Overall as a new graduate starting out in my chosen profession I can rest assured knowing that MWH will provide me with the challenging, supportive and cohesive team environment which will enable me to build a long and successful career at MWH.

  “Even before completing my Bachelor of Natural Resources Engineering at Canterbury University, I had set my sights on a move to Western Australia. The scope and scale attributed to the iron ore mining industry was too much of an adventure to pass up!

Fortunately for me, MWH in Perth are in an expansion phase and took me on as geotechnical engineer to work on some up and coming projects. The major highlight for me has been the rostered ‘stints’ at the project mine sites in the Pilbara. The autonomy associated with being the field based client representative is also a great challenge and a valuable learning experience.

My business unit in MWH aims to develop innovative methods for mine design, dewatering and water supply. I see my role as a chance to make a positive difference through the skilled application of technical knowledge. MWH makes this possible.”

With their global locations, I then joined MWH in Australia as part of the Queensland Transport Group. My move to Australia was the result of a number of discussions with my project supervisors in the New Zealand business and here in Australia.
